Mythic Ventures and Soul Music focus upon two California artists of the period 1930's – 2000… the period of focus at Tobey C. Moss Gallery.

Both artists enriched the Los Angeles/southern California cultural environment and also had collectors from throughout the U.S. Both artists are represented in museum collections from coast to coast – Ynez, through her rich imaginative journeys to exotic climes and Schoppe, through his love of the 'peoples music' he enjoyed from New York in the early 1930s to the Gullah community of South Carolina, through New Orleans and then back in Los Angeles, where he began to commemorate his experiences on the litho stone at Lynton Kistler's Workshop in 1935.

Both taught, here in Los Angeles, in addition to steady creation of paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures. Ynez still lives (!) but Palmer died a dozen years ago. Both enriched our lives, our community, many students… etc.

This show includes work by Ynez that was created in 1940's to 1990's, while Schoppe's works span the 1930's to the 1980's.
