The Palos Verdes Art Center/Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education proudly presents Betty Gold: Color Blocking, an exhibition highlighting the international sculptor’s 50 year career, curated by Joe Baker. Betty Gold: Color Blocking opens Friday, April 4, 2014 in the Norris Gallery of the Palos Verdes Art Center, 5504 West Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes. The exhibit will run through April 19, 2014. PVAC Member pre-opening reception will begin at 5 p.m., April 4, with the general public opening to follow, 6-8 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

This exhibition, coinciding with the acquisition of Gold’s print portfolio into the Palos Verdes Art Center’s permanent collection, celebrates the artist’s five-decade inquiry into geometric abstraction. Leaping from the tradition of figurative representation, Betty Gold’s imaginative exploration of space in both her flat and sculptural work will be the focus of her current exhibition at PVAC. A series of scale maquettes of her larger sculptural work are to be exhibited alongside her print portfolio Holistic.
