LOS ANGELES, CA (April 28TH, 2015) LA Artcore presents an exciting painting show feature two easel artists dedicated to experimentally sourced variations in their work.
Alain G. Rogier has built impressive canvas mileage out of gestural marks, at once provisional and expressionistic. The careful filling of the canvas surface shows a concern for overall form and balance, a kind of self restrain against which the artist applies what he calls in one series ‘graffiti of the mind’. Working the recognizable into a kind of frenetic caricature, the artist works the edge of recognition producing a feeling of the chaos of urban interactions, his presence made known in the decision-making behind his marks.
Yayoi Ailene Shibata is best described as a traveling voyeur, her itinerary traversing the periods and territories of pure abstraction. From watery images filled with the suggestion of natural forces, the hard lines tempered with texture or theory, her mind grabs on to each canvas and seeks to present a complete microcosm of her world, as a painter and an artist in the overall conversation behind her chosen medium.
