devNgosha – Thirst

Thirst represents the severity of the current California drought as both a physical reality and an allegory of artistic desolation. Images of cacti, cowboys and tumbleweeds embody the reversion of a golden California landscape into a desert community.

Glenn Barr - Glitterland

Inspired by cult films of the 1960s and 70s, the hauntingly beautiful figures inGlitterland evoke a sense of film noir - an uncertain reality that extends beyond the frame. The exhibition is an ironic paradox of the cheap glitter of Hollywood glamour, embodied in the subtle, wistful expressions of his ‘B culture’ stars.

William Wray – Fortress L.A.

Growing up on Hollywood Boulevard, Wray was intrigued by the flooded sidewalk of struggling actors and models impersonating pop culture icons. Drawing inspiration from his encounters with Hollywood’s ‘superheroes,’ Fortress L.A. inverts the idea of the superhero’s human alter ego by highlighting the identities of the slumped and weary subjects masked in heroic costumes.
