Freeway Studies #1: This Side of the 405
A survey of the neighbor- hoods and networks of Los Angeles artists.
“Freeway Studies” is a multi-year, contemporary art-focused curatorial project. This first of the series includes work by 33 artists whose studios are west of the 405, north of the 105, and south of the 10 freeways in Los Angeles.
Description:
The Ben Maltz Gallery presents a diverse program of group and solo exhibitions in a variety of media. It serves Los Angeles' vigorous art community and the city's diverse public at large, while acting as an important resource for Otis students and faculty. The program engages a wide range of contemporary art and ideas through exhibitions, catalogues, and public events. Highlighting work that pushes the frontiers of traditional form and subject matter, the Gallery typically exhibits emerging and established Los Angeles artists and designers, placing them in the context of national and international programming. The Gallery both originates and participates in national touring exhibitions.
