In the field of visual arts, UC Berkeley Extension, the continuing education arm of the University of California, Berkeley, offers courses from art history, art theory and criticism to studio courses in painting, drawing, photography and other media. Here, you can find the courses that will help foster your individual expression and hone your skills as a practicing artist. Courses in the visual arts are enhanced by a combination of expert instruction and studio experience. UC Berkeley Extension offers a supportive atmosphere for professional, personal and artistic growth. All Extension courses and certificate programs are reviewed and approved by UC Berkeley and can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis. Courses take place in the heart of San Francisco’s SOMA/Yerba Buena art district.
