ROBERT BERMAN GALLERY is pleased to present FAULTLINE an anamorphic installation by Gary Palmer. Gary Palmer's anamorphic perspective drawings are large scale site-specific illusions in urban places, but in this case his street art is placed inside the gallery. A visual illusion bending our perception of reality leaks beyond the confines of the gallery space like street art tamed and then liberated. Part drawn illusion, part physical form, the installation steps outside the gallery walls. The floor, as if fractured by the shift of tectonic plates, crumbles away into a deep chasm but closer inspection reveals a sensitively articulated line drawing.

Gary Palmer was born in Belfast in 1968 attending the university of Edinburgh for Theoretical Physics before eventually graduating with a Masters degree in Architecture. He travelled around the world as a street artist before winning a green card in a lottery and settling in Venice Beach, California. His street drawings have been published in 'A Carpet of Dream' by RJD Enterprises, and '3D Street Art' by Tectum, and featured at festivals in Europe, Australia, and the US. His work is included in the collections of the Ulster Museum, Belfast, and many important collections. A series of paintings on canvas entitled 'The Road to Zanzibar' records his travels in East Africa, from lake Malawi to Zanzibar island. His current works are site-specific illusions involving perspective drawings.
