For the next few years, Angels Gate Cultural Center is exploring how stories within the community shape the collective consciousness in San Pedro and South Bay area. Our new project, opening on February 9th will mark the beginning of a year-long partnership with the Union. Together we will explore the story of their members and families, the history of the labor movement in San Pedro and how this impacts the community at large. The installation is a collaboration between members of the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, the Pile Drivers, Bridge, Dock and Wharf Builders Local Union 2375 and Los Angeles based artist Fausto Fernandez.

The installation provides the Union members with an opportunity to share who they are and what they do.  This project is part of several other exhibitions featuring Eve Wood, Karena Massengill, Jessica Wimbley, Michele Jaquis, and Mwangi Hutter that involve the community.
