Angels Gate Cultural Center's Annual Open Studios Day is a big celebration of who we are and what we do at Angels Gate Cultural Center. The Studio Artists will open their doors for you to see what they create in their studios. The Artist in Classroom and Community Class programs will present culminations of the work that happen onsite and in the community throughout the year. The Galleries will feature four new openings by a range of artists from the professional art world, local community, and K-12 schools. Please join us for art, food, and fun, where all ages will find something to celebrate.

Gallery Opening:
Gettin' off the Ground: Contemporary Stories from an American Community
This opening continues the two - year initiative that has turned the gallery into an experimental space that explores notions of metaphor through storytelling. Through a variety of methods the galleries will incorporate stories, folklore and personal narratives specific to the San Pedro community with the hope to capture a slice of Americana that is unique to the nation and in particular to Los Angeles. In addition we will feature work that has been completed by young artists within the local region through the Artists In Classroom program.

Artists featured in the galleries are: Sarah Elise Abramson, Phoebe Barnum, Todd Gray, Stuart Hamilton, Garland Kirkpatrick, Boyd Lewis, Andrea Lien, Christopher Lutterodt-Quarcoo, Elizabeth Perez, Guadaloupe Rodriguez, Jesse Small, Valerie Smith-Griffin, Patrick Tierney, Joyce Weiss and YOU!

Studio Artist Open House:
Angels Gate Cultural Center is home year round to one of the largest Studio Artist Programs in the region, with a diverse body of disciplines including ceramics, photography, printmaking, music, writing, and filmmaking. On Open Studios Day, 51 artists open their studios to the public to show their work over the past year in the setting in which it was originally conceived and created. An inspiring, once-a-year opportunity for everyone including seasoned artists and arts novices alike.

Print Studio & Ceramics Demonstrations :
The Printmaking Studio draws regional fans as one of the most beautiful studios in Los Angeles. There will be Printmaking and Screenprinting demonstrations all day that are popular for all ages. Throughout the day the Ceramicist Community Class Teachers and Studio Artists will be offering free demonstrations in traditional and raku firings.

Childrens Art Workshops:
Students art will be shown in the gallery and classrooms to highlight their work throughout the year. Artists from the Artists in Classrooms program will be leading workshops for all ages, in which they will create their own unique souvenir from Open Studios Day.
